Birth2 Oct 1848 Andrew Edmondson Keys was born on 2 Oct 1848 in Virginia.5,6,7 
Military Andrew was only 13 when the Civil War began. However before the war's end he served as a member of Company F of the 37th Virginia Infantry which was known as the Glade Spring Rifles. Years later Andrew named a son in honor of his commanding officer, George Graham.8 
Marriage8 Dec 1876 He married Florence H. Hutchinson, daughter of William Waugh Hutchinson and Elizabeth Needham, on 8 Dec 1876 in Taylorsville (now Mountain City), Johnson County, Tennessee.9,10,11 
Cens-18804 Jun 1880 Andrew and Florence settled in the Holston District of Washington County following their marriage. Florence's mother, Elizabeth Hutchinson lived with the young couple.12 
ChildDeath  Andrew and Florence's first child, a daughter named Julia, died a few months before the 1880 census was recorded. 
  In the 20 years that followed, Florence would give birth to 10 children, including Samuel, born a few months after the 1880 enumeration. 
Cens-1900Feb 1900  Two children, Walter and John, did not survive to 1900, but when the census was recorded that year Andrew and Florence were listed living in the community of Glade Spring with their 8 surviving children. Elizabeth Hutchinson was also still part of the household.13 
Cens-191016 Apr 1910 Both the 1900 and the 1910 census recorded Andrew's occupation as "produce merchant."14 
  Two of Andrew's sons later became merchants as well: Graham sold grain and seeds, and Charles sold produce. 
Death3 Jun 1918 Andrew died at his home on 3 Jun 1918 following a year of feeble health. He was 69.5,15 
Burial He was buried in the Keys square at Old Baptist Cemetery, Washington County, Virginia.5

Patterson took the oath of executors and posted bond in the amount of $12,000 with Mathew H. Buchanan and William King their securities; the will names Andrew's grandchildren, Martha and Andrew Keys.
