Eva was listed as a 44 year old widow who was the mother of 5 children, of whom 4 were living. Her daughter Belle was also in the household; she was married and had given birth to one child who was not living. Belle's husband was not present. Eva's 3 living sons, Charles, Willis and Ernest, who ranged in age from 22 to 17 were working on their grandfather's farm. Eva's mother had died 9 years earlier and Eva's 73 year old father, Hugh Pippin, had taken a 26 year old wife just a few months before the census taker enumerated the household.2 |
