Birth25 Jan 1780 Martha Moore was born on 25 Jan 1780 in Virginia.4 
Marriage31 Oct 1799 She married John Edmondson, son of Andrew Edmiston, on 31 Oct 1799 in Washington County, Virginia.5,2 
Legatee1827  Martha's father died in 1827. His will left her a Negro girl named Jamima, a cow and calf, 4 head of sheep and a share of the cash on hand.2 
Widowed1836  Martha was widowed when John died in 1836. He wrote his will in late December, 1835. It left Martha all his real and personal property during her lifetime with the exception of specific bequests to his children.6 
Land-Sell5 Jan 1841 On 5 Jan 1841 Martha sold 34 acres of land on the Middle fork of the Holston River in Washington County to her son William.7 
Land-Sell5 Jan 1841 The same day she sold 6 1/2 acres to her son-in-law Joseph Snodgrass. It was part of the land originally devised by John to their son William.8 
Cens-18501850  At age 70 Martha was enumerated on the first federal census to record each member of the household. She was listed as owning land valued at $1,200. Also living with her in 1850 was Martha Edmondson (22) and Eveline G__ (17).9 
  The younger Martha was most likely the daughter of Martha's deceased daughter Elizabeth (wife of Andrew Edmondson). Living next door to Martha in 1850 was her son Andrew Edmondson, whose first wife had been another Martha. She had also died young, leaving daughters Mary and Elizabeth. 
Cens-18607 Aug 1860  By 1860 the two families were living together, with Andrew listed as the head of the household. Martha, at 80, was the eldest member of the family. Andrew was 59, Rosa [his wife] was 43 and their children ranged from 19 year old Samuel to 2 year old Mattie. In addition, 10 year old William Smith was a part of the household. The post office listed for the family was "Liberty Hall."10
