Birth17 Nov 1884 William Ryburn "Rybe" Carmack was born on 17 Nov 1884.2 
Moth-Death28 Nov 1884 William's mother died less than two weeks after his birth. He was raised by his father's family, in particular his aunt Martha Fannie Carmack.3 
Devisee30 Jun 1886 William's grandfather, Col. William Ryburn, wrote his will when William was two years old. He left him $200 and an equal share with his mother's siblings of a certificate of deposit and the proceeds of the sale of the "Knob land". William also bequeathed his namesake several tracts of land: the Montgomery land, the Painter land, also about 61 acres of land taken from a tract known as the "Beatty land". All of the items bequeathed to William were to be held in trust for him by the executors of the colonel's estate. William's father was not to have any control over his William's inheritance. Twelve years later the will was modified by a codicil which among other things reduced William's cash gift to $100.1

Court Record17 Nov 1905 On 17 Nov 1905 papers were offered in Washington County, Virginia court by J.D.G. Ryburn and W.J. Snodgrass, who were trustees for the assets left to William by his grandfather. The document, dated on William's 21st birthday, listed various bills paid and showed that a balance of $762. 76 was distributed to William.5 
Marriagecirca 1907 He married Minnie Erwin, daughter of Jacob Erwin and Sarah E. Booher, circa 1907.6 
Cens-191015 Apr 1910 The 1910 census recorded William and his wife Minnie living in the 17th district of Sullivan County, Tennessee. William was working at "odd jobs."6 
Cens-192019 Jan 1920  The 1920 census contained errors in the enumeration of their household, but clearly their sons Lawrence and James were present. The family was recorded in the 5th Civil District.7 
Cens-193014 Apr 1930 Although William was enumerated as the head of the household in 1930, his father-in-law, J. P. Erwin, was also listed in the home. J.P. stated that he owned a farm valued at $5,000. He was 83 years old and a widower. William was apparently also working the farm. Lawrence and James were also enumerated, as was Minnie's sister, Annie.8 
Death22 Nov 1951 William died on 22 Nov 1951 at age 67.2 
Burial He was buried at Gunnings Cemetery in Sullivan County, Tennessee.2
