Ward24 Mar 1856  William's father died in 1854 at which time William was just 4 years old. As part of the process of settling his father's estate, William and his siblings were named wards of their cousin William Allison.6 
Cens-188019 Jun 1880  In reality the children continued to live with their mother Isabella. When the 1880 census was recorded William, at age 29, remained a member of her household.7 
Marriage3 Mar 1883 He married Mattie A. Horne, daughter of John Edmondson Horne and Mary B. Fullen, on 3 Mar 1883 in Washington County, Virginia.8 
  William's older brother James was married to Mattie's sister Sallie.  
Death2 Feb 1898 William died on 2 Feb 1898 at age 47.5 
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5
