Research Comment:

Approximately 20 years after Joseph's death a cluster of deeds, whereby his heirs sold their interest in Joseph's land, identified 7 of Joseph's 8 children. The land was sold to Solomon Barrick, who was the son of Joseph's second wife Elizabeth Barrick from a previous relationship. The pertinent deeds are described on Solomon's page. The final 8th share belonged to Solomon's half-sister Catherine Buchanan. Under the terms of Solomon's 1848 will the tract passed to his mother Elizabeth Buchanan and then on her death to Catherine in its entirety.
