These pages focus on members of the Moffett family

The Moffett family I cannot tell vary much about the old familys haveing never heard vary much from any one, not thinking of ever setting anything down, so I will just give all I know of the younger race (that is your fathers brothers and sisters)
MJB Moffett
Your great Grandfather was killed in the Indian ware neare Pitsburg not long after the setlments of Va, country vary new and Indians vary bad, he left your great Grand mother with three children John (your Fathers father) Thomas, and Marry. John married Isabella Davis. (I never heard who Thomas married) Mary married Abram Gobble, they all lived on or near the north forck of Holston river, John lived about four mile from Abingdon untill his family was grown and married, and then sold out and moved out to Indianea (Rush County) his mother was Buried on the place it being the same place that his father left them on when he went to fight the Indians, never to return

John Buried his wife and son John and (my father is Buried by them, haveing bought it of Fathe Moffett and was liveing on it at the time of his death) he married the second time after he moved to Indiana I do not remmber her name.
John and Isabell Mofett had 7 children Mary, William, John, Hanah, Thomas, Robert [Robert had been added above the line possibly with a different pen] Abram and Garner
all gone to there long home from whence no traveller ever returns but Thomas and Abram

Elizabeth Harris Moffett wife of Dr. John Moffett of Rushvell Indiana died Aril [April] 12th 1878
The doctor is a grand son of Father Moffett and son of Wm Moffett of Rush County
Schedule = Got from Dr. John Moffett
[there follows a chart - click on thumbnail at left to view - indicating 6 children for William and Mary Moffett including 3 with the notation "died" (George, James, Robert). I have not seen these 3 names ever mentioned elsewhere - if indeed they were children of William and Mary the couple must have married earlier than previously thought. The chart lists Thomas before John which is not correct but it is also possible the names were not intended to be presented chronologically. The inclusion of the name George as William's possible first born son may be significant in that William's older brother George was clearly an influence in his life and served as William's guardian after their father's death]

Hanah and Wm Hawk were married November 10th 1836
Thomas Moffett A.E. Davis married Feb 16 1837
Robert Moffett and Elizabeth Culbertson were married July 11th 1839
Abram G. Moffett Sarah Ann Davis were married Jan 28th 1841 (she died and he married the second time to Caroline Tidd)
