Birth26 Oct 1886 Mary Clark was born on 26 Oct 1886 in Virginia.1 
Childhood  Mary was the 9th child, and youngest daughter in a family of 10 children. She grew up on her parent's farm in the Holston district of Washington County.3,4 
Devisee5 Mar 1917  Mary's father remembered her with a gift of 16 acres off of his home tract when he wrote his will in Washington County in the spring of 1917. Mary also received a half interest in her father's lands in the vicinity of Glade Spring. James died in 1924 at which time his will was probated. 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920  Several of Mary's brothers migrated west to Oklahoma in the early 1900s, settling in the panhandle area of the state. Mary and her sister Martha ("Etta") also appear to have spent some time in Oklahoma as they were enumerated in their brother George's household in Texas County, Oklahoma in 1920.5 
Marriage30 Aug 1922 She married John Graves on 30 Aug 1922.6 
Residence  Following their marriage John and Mary settled in California. Their son Charles was born in Los Angeles in early 1926. In April 1930 the family was enumerated farming on Mesa Ave. in San Bernadino County.7 
Widowed  John died in 1933 leaving Mary and 7 year old Charles. 
  Following John's death Mary appears to have returned to Virginia. On May 19, 1944, while a resident of Washington County, Charles enlisted in the US Army. He was killed less than 6 months later during the Battle of the Bulge.8 
Death18 Jun 1962 Mary died on 18 Jun 1962 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 75.1 
Burial She was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.9
