Marriage16 Nov 1859 She married Col. James Lafayette Franklin Campbell, son of Capt David Campbell and Ann Ryburn, on 16 Nov 1859 in Washington County, Virginia.1 
16 Nov 1859 She was 24 and he was 35. 
Cens-18601860 Josephine and James were enumerated on the 1860 census less than a year after their marriage. Josephine, at age 25, was raising two daughters from James's first marriage: 13 year old Mary and 2 year old Susan.3 
Cens-18701 Jul 1870 The 1870 census clarified that the family was living in the Goodson township section of Washington County. In the 10 years since the previous enumeration daughter Mary had married and left home, but Susan, at age 12 was attending school. James and Josephine had also added a son and daughter of their own to the family.4 
Widowed30 Jan 1871  James died the following January, leaving Josephine, at 35, with three children at home. 
Cens-18803 Jun 1880  When the census taker visited Josephine in 1880 she was ill with bronchitis. She must not have recovered as she died 4 months later, leaving her son David (19) and daughter Laura (17).5 
Death19 Oct 1880 Josephine died on 19 Oct 1880 at age 45.2 
Burial She was buried at Sinking Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.2
