Cens-18601860 John and Elizabeth settled in Johnson County, Tennessee, following their marriage. The 1860 census recorded John as a 43 year old farmer who owned land worth $3,500 and personal property valued at $1,000. Elizabeth was 32. Five children were part of the family as well as a 12 year old named Hiram Ramsey and a 22 year old farm laborer named William Bone.3

Deathbefore 1880 John probably died before 1880 as Elizabeth was enumerated as the head of the household that year.

Blankenbeckler: d. Mar; age 23; single; TN/VA/VA; schoolteacher; consumption; resident of county 20y; Physician, S. Remine. Note: If the information that Zachariah had been a resident of Washington Co. for 20 years is accurate the family may have returned to Virginia shortly after the 1860 census recorded them in Tennessee. However, this conflicts with the fact that daughter Virginia is stated to have been born in Tennessee abt 1862.
