Marriage14 Jul 1844 He married Elizabeth Catron, daughter of Christopher Catron and Mary O'Neil, on 14 Jul 1844 in Johnson County, Tennessee.1,3 
Census  The couple spent their married lives in Washington Co. (Virginia). William was both a farmer and a skilled carpenter who by 1860 was considered a master craftsman. Two young apprentice carpenters lived with William and Elizabeth in 1860 in addition to their [daughters] Letitia and Sophia and [son] Thomas.4,5 
  A 4th child, a stillborn son, was born in Feb. 1853.6 
Widowed30 Aug 1861  Elizabeth died in August, 1861. 
Marriage14 Jul 1863 William married second Nancy Emeline (Rhea) Catron, daughter of James Rhea and Hetty Hanes, on 14 Jul 1863 in Washington County, Virginia.2 
  Nancy had been first married to Thomas Jefferson Catron who was the brother of William's first wife.  
Military13 Aug 1863  William enrolled in Co. F of the 21st Virginia Cavalry on 13 Aug 1863 at Abingdon in Washington County.7 
30 Aug 1864  He was wounded during fighting at Bunker's Hill on 30 Aug. 1864 and taken prisoner.7 
DeathSep 1864 William died from his wounds in Sep 1864.8
