Marriage28 Oct 1817 He married Dorcas Keys on 28 Oct 1817 in Washington County, Virginia.5 
Cens-Sum  John and Dorcas spent their married lives in Washington County. In 1850 John's land was valued at $1,200 and in 1860 at $2,400, along with $1,500 in personal property. The couple do not appear to have had children.6,7,8 
Will20 May 1859  John's will, written in 1859, named his wife Dorcas, his nephew John, son of Thomas; nephew John Clark, son of Peter [and Margaret] Clark; also brothers and sisters: Richard, Jane, Mary, Margaret Clark, Susannah McClure, the heirs of Thomas Montgomery, and the heirs of Elizabeth Scott. The will also stated that if Nancy Snodgrass had a grandchild living he or she was also to receive a share.9 
Death31 Mar 1863 John died on 31 Mar 1863 at age 75.10,4 
  His brother Richard died the following week. 
Burial Both men were buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County.11

War. pension application. The pages containing family information were located tucked into the bible of Peter and Margaret (Montgomery) Clark. Margaret was a daughter of Richard Montgomery Sr..
