Marriage4 Feb 1902 He married Dorcas Anna Larimer, daughter of Robert James Larimer and Sarah Ann Debusk, on 4 Feb 1902 in Washington County, Virginia.5,6 
Cens-19104 May 1910  Sampson and Dorcas farmed land in the St. Clair District of Smyth County, Virginia. The 1910 census, enumerated 8 years after their marriage, recorded a household that included Sampson (37), "Annie" (40), son James R. (5 - entered as Jame) and two of Sampson's siblings: brother George (54) and sister Eunice (46), who were both single.7 
Death7 Feb 1920 Sampson died on 7 Feb 1920 at age 47.4 
Burial He was buried at Tilson Cemetery in Smyth County, Virginia.8 

Research Comment:

Dorcas corresponded with Judge Redmond Cole in 1930 when he was collecting information on Washington County families.
