Letter from M. Beattie, Glade Springs, Va
12/20/1880 to Wm G.G. Lowry -
John Beattie had sons: David, John & Wm

I. Eldest - David - b. Cars Creek, Rockbridge Co. VA
& came to Washgton [Washington] Co 1772 - He
Married a Miss Mary Beattie ___ [faded] Washington
Co. VA - 4 sons & 1 daghter [daughter]

II.  John Beattie never married - was killed at
Kings Mtn.

III. Wm Beattie, my father was youngest of 3 -
b. 1760 Cars Creek Rockbridge removed
to Washgton [sic] - (then Augusta) 1772
He married Miss May Allison of
Washgton [sic] County 1789 & raised
family of 3 daughters & ten sons -
Wm Beattie died Apr 4, 1860 -
on the farm his father settled on &
on farm I (M. Beattie) now have
