Mrs. George P. Taubman,
274 Park Ave.
Long Beach California.

Dear Mrs. Taubman:

C.R. Gilmore of Tulsa, was recently in Somerset, Ky., and there he contacted some of the Beattie clan, and they gave him your address, stating that you were a descendantnof [sic] Francis Beattie.  I am not a Beattie, and my interest in this family arises out of the following facts:

John Breckenridge Beattie of Grlade [sic] Springs, Mo. [VA], married Sarah Jane Cole, (my grandfathers sister) and moved to Missouri before the Civil War.  My father James B. Cole, left Virginia in 1872 to live with this Aunt, and I was born in her home in 1881.  In this Beattie family there was a line called DYSART, many of whom lived in Andrew County.  Some Beatties married into the Logan, others into the Cowan and still others into the Carson Families.  I have been searching to discover how these pwople [sic] were related to the Edmistons and Beatties of Washington County, also the Logans, Allisons, Gilmores, etc.

I have a mass of data dealing with the John Beattie family, but aside from an examination of his will, I have little about FRANCIS BEATTIE, his brother.  I would be happy if you would do so to have you  _ite me and advise me just how extensive your Frances Beattie data is, and whet_re you can advise me the names of all his children and where these went to reside.

Please write me if I can exchange data or send you any data about any of the Beattie Families of whom I have records.

Thanking you in advance for an early reply, I am,
    Yours sincerely,

    Redmond S. Cole

BEATTIE FAMILY.
