Dear Mr. Cole-
Your letter of Feb. 8” was received and I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate the information concerning the second family of my Grandfather Josiah N. Beattie and indeed all the other information you have been kind enough to send me.

I think it is a very wonderful and interesting coincidence that your friend Mr. Gilmore should be the one to give you the data about Josiah N. Beattie that you had been trying to get.

I knew there must be descendents of my Fathers half sister Virginia Beattie but where to find them I did not know.  This is invaluable to me and I do thank you so much.

You spoke of having the genealogy of Wm. Beattie who married Rhoda White and asked me if I had same.  I know only that he was my grandfathers brother and that he married Rhoda White & that his son Robert went to California.  Then you told me that Prof. Arthur Y. Beatie of Stony Brook N. Y. was his descendent.  If you have any more than this, I would be so happy to have it.

Did I tell you that I had a very nice letter from Gates Beattie several months ago.  He gave me the record of his fathers family and said his grandfather was a first cousin of Sidney Beattie who worked in Abraham Naves store in Savannah, Mo. & who later went to Utah, all of which was interesting to me.

The last time we were in the east, in fact, the same time we contacted Gates Beattie, we went to Virginia.  We did not have time for any research work but we did go to Hampden Sydney to visit the old Hampden Sydney college.  I was interested in this because of my father having been named Hampden Sydney.  We were fortunate enough to meet the President of the college.  I told him why we were there and he asked me if I would send him what genealogy of the Beattie family I had, which I did.  He wrote me & said he found it very interesting and would keep it for reference but could not tie it to that which he already had of the family.  I am telling you this thinking that if you are interested in getting in touch with him, he might have something you want & you might have something he would want.  His address is  Pres. J. D. Eggleston
       Hampden Sydney College
       Hampden Sydney
       Virginia

Would you be interested in knowing that there is a family by the name of Cole in Logan.  The father was George Cole.  He is not living but his son is here and his address is Mr. Alfred L. Cole
 56-W. 3” North
 Logan, Utah

Thank you again so much.  I do wish I could express to you how much I appreciate your kindness.

Most Sincerely Mrs. B. G. Thatcher
