Caleb Boudish Gardner1

b. 21 April 1766, d. 20 October 1809
Birth21 Apr 1766 Caleb Boudish Gardner was born on 21 Apr 1766, possibly in Connecticut.2
Mr. Robert Gardner, who has researched the Gardner family in great detail, notes that Caleb's probable parents (Jeremiah Gardner and Mary Bowdish/Boudish) appear in the records of Pownal, Vermont (then New York or New Hampshire) by 1767. It is possible Caleb was born there. It is also possible he was born in Connecticut, through which Mr. Gardner believes the family traveled from Rhode Island on their way to Pownal. Mr. Gardner notes that Caleb's son Hiram reported in 1880 that his father was born in Connecticut.3
Marriage25 Jul 1792 Caleb married Elizabeth Graham on 25 Jul 1792.4
County records, coupled with the reported birth location for their children, suggest Caleb and Elizabeth spent time in both Ontario Co., New York and Otsego Co. New York.3
Death20 Oct 1809 Caleb died on 20 Oct 1809 in Seneca (now Geneva), Ontario County, New York, at age 43.3

Caleb's entry states: Caleb Boudish Gardner was born April 21, 1766, Geneva, New York. [Note: It is doubtful Caleb was born in Geneva (or Seneca as it was previously known) as neither location existed as an organized community in 1766. Caleb's data was entered in his granddaughter's Bible at least 50 years after his death and probably more than 100 years after his birth]
