| Birth | 23 Oct 1877 | Luvinia Allison was born on 23 Oct 1877 in Washington County, Virginia.2,3 |
| Name Other | Although she was recorded as Luvinia on the 1880 census she appears to have used the nickname Lulu throughout her adult life.1 | |
| Marriage | Nov 1899 | She married George T. Gardner, son of Thomas Edmondson Gardner and Ellen Eliza Lansdowne, in Nov 1899 in Washington County, Virginia.2 |
| Cens-1900 | 9 Jun 1900 | After their marriage George and Lulu settled in Marion in Smyth County, Virginia. There they were enumerated in 1900 living next to George's parents. George was employed as a farm laborer.4 |
| Migration | Sometime after the birth of Edwin in early 1905 and before the birth of Allison in the spring of 1908 George and Lulu migrated to California. | |
| George's brother Edwin settled in Ventura County, California some years earlier. | ||
| Cens-1910 | 15 Apr 1910 | By 1910 Luvinia and George had also settled in Ventura County although the exact location is not clear from the census record. The street was listed as "county road" and the incorporated place as Santa Paula town. The township was corrected to read Ventura, but Saticoy precinct and Santa Paula had both been previously entered. George and "Lula" both stated that they had been married once, for ten years and that they were born in Virginia. George stated he was a farmer and that his farm was mortgaged. Lulu added that she was the mother of 3 children, but only 2 were living at the time.5 |
| Cens-1920 | 20 Jan 1920 | In 1920 the location of the family farm was described as on Telephone Road in Ventura township.6 |
| Cens-1930 | 16 Apr 1930 | The 1930 cenus again listed the address as Telephone Road, but described the location as the community of Saticoy. George reported that he owned the farm, and in response to a question unique to that years census, that he also owned a radio.7 |
