Research Comment:

Benjamin Sharp was enumerated as the head of a Washington County household in 1820, 1830 and 1840. In each census, tick marks appear in the appropriate age columns for all children listed at the bottom of this page with the exception of the oldest female child.

The 1820 census indicates the presence of a female child under 10. The 1830 census indicates a female child age 10-15. The 1840 census indicates a 15-19 year old female. These may all indicate the presence of daughter Mary, whose age is reported inconsistently on later census records as well. She appears as a 27 year old in 1850, a 39 year old in 1860 and a 60 year old in 1880.
