Birth1889 Edgar L. Ritchie was born in 1889 in Virginia.1 
  Edgar was only about 8 years old when his father died. His mother remarried a few years later, but she too died at a young age in 1908. 
Cens-191021 Apr 1910 In 1910 Edgar and his two younger siblings made their home together in the community of Damascus in Washington County, Virginia, where they had grown up. Both 21 year old Edgar and his 18 year old brother worked at a lumber mill.5 
Military Edgar was wounded during World War I.3 
Death1923 Edgar died in 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland, as the result of an accidental gas leak.1,3 
Burial He was buried at Old Baptist Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1
