Cens-1900Jun 1900 In the years after their marriage Hannabelle and Phipps moved to Tennessee, where they settled in a boarding house in Memphis while Phipps worked as a teacher.6 
Devisee1907  Hannabelle's father, Minter Jackson, was a very successful businessman. He founded the Bank of Marion (Smyth Co., Virginia) in 1874, and owned the Colonnade Hotel in Abingdon (Washington Co., Virginia). Minter died in 1907. His will left Hannabelle and her siblings $100 each. Minter also left the Colonnade Hotel to Phipps Miller in trust for Hannabelle. She also received an adjoining hardware store and part of a lot in Marion. Minter also left her $4,000 in stock in the Bank of Marion with the stipulation that if Hannabelle left no surviving children the stock reverted to her brother W.B. [Walter] Jackson.7 
Cens-191022 Apr 1910  The 1910 census found Phipps and Hannabelle renting a home at 1920 Madison St. in Memphis.8 
Cens-192013 Feb 1920  However by 1920 they had moved to Hawkins County where they boarded on a farm with Andy McClure and his family.9 
Cens-19308 Apr 1930  Phipps died between 1920 and April 1930 by which time Hannabelle had returned to Marion. There she lived with a cousin, Carrie B. Gwynn.10 [probably the daughter of Hannabelle's uncle Claiborne Beattie] 
Death24 May 1939 Hannabelle died on 24 May 1939 in Marion, Smyth County, Virginia, at age 69.11,12 
Burial She was buried at Round Hill Cemetery in Smyth County following 11:00 am services at the Presbyterian Church.11,13
