Birth11 Nov 1798 Jane Montgomery was born on 11 Nov 1798 in Virginia.1 
  Jane and her sister Mary did not marry but remained at home with their parents. Following their father's death in 1840 their brother Richard assumed the role of head of the family.3,4 
Will24 Dec 1864  Jane wrote her will on Christmas Eve 1864. It was proved at court on January 23, 1865. Jane left her land and most of her estate to her sister Margaret Clark. She also willed that her slaves be set free and left them a share of her estate.5 
Death30 Dec 1864 Jane died on 30 Dec 1864 at age 66.6,7 
Burial She was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.7

It may have been a replacement marker for an earlier stone although none was cataloged in High On A Windy Hill. The stone reads: Jane Montgomery 1798-1864.

  9. [S16] It is not known who originally owned this Montgomery family bible. The script does not appear to be that of Richard Montgomery Sr., at least compared to his signature on his Rev. War. pension application. The pages containing family information were located tucked into the bible of Peter and Margaret (Montgomery) Clark. Margaret was a daughter of Richard Montgomery Sr..
