Birth14 Oct 1884 Martha Henrietta Clark was born on 14 Oct 1884.1 
Childhood  Martha, who appears in most records as "Etta", a diminutive of her middle name, grew up amidst a large family in the Holston district of Washington County, Virginia. Like many of her siblings, she did not marry.3,4,5 
Devisee5 Mar 1917  Etta's father wrote his will in 1917. He divided up his home tract among his children with his sons Ambler and Harry receiving the largest portions. Etta and her sister Emma each received 25 acres off the tract. In addition, Ambler and Harry were to pay Etta and Emma $200 each. 
  At about the same time Etta's father wrote his will, she appears to have been living in Texas County, Oklahoma where she was listed as her brother George's closest relative on his 1918 World War I draft registration.6 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920  Two years later, when the 1920 census for Texas County was enumerated, both Etta and her sister Mary were recorded as members of George's household.7 
Cens-19301 May 1930  However by 1930 Etta had returned to Washington County where at age 46 she was recorded living with her other unmarried siblings Harry, Charles, Emma and Ambler.8 
Death31 Jan 1971 Etta died on 31 Jan 1971 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 86.1 
Burial She was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
