BirthCircacirca 1835 Frances Jane Wallace was born in Montgomery County, Virginia, circa 1835.1
Marriage7 Jan 1857 She married Edwin Conrad Teeter on 7 Jan 1857 in Washington County, Virginia.1
Cens-18603 Oct 1860  Edwin and Frances lived in close proximity to both Edwin's mother Sophia Teeter and Frances's father Rev. John Wallace. Edwin owned real estate worth $2,500 in 1860. The same year he also reported owning personal property valued at $3,000.4
Cens-187030 Jun 1870  Edwin and Frances were enumerated again following the Civil War. Edwin's real estate was now valued at $3,000 but his personal property had dropped to $400. Daughter Sophia was also listed (age 12). In addition a 3 year old named Frances J. was recorded with the family.5
Frances may have been Edwin and Frances's daughter, but the 1870 census does not state relationships and no other record of her has been found. It is also possible she was a relative misrecorded with the Teeter last name. Note that in 1880 there is a Fanny Bradley, age 12, in the home but no Frances Teeter. Also on the 1910 census Frances J. (Wallace) Teeter states that she was the mother of only 1 child (I have not located Frances on the 1900 census to see if she gave the same answer when asked the same question on that year's census).
Widowed1878 Frances was widowed when Edwin died in the summer of 1878.6
Cens-18805 Jun 1880 Two years later she was recorded on the 1880 census living with her daughter Sophia [enumerated as Annie S.] and son-in-law, Martin Withers.7
1907  In 1907 Frances Jane Wallace wrote a letter spelling out her Houston ancestry. She also stated that she was the last living member of her family, including her husband and children. This is somewhat puzzling since she had living grandchildren with families of their own at the time.8
Cens-191026 Apr 1910  In fact three years later she was enumerated living with her grandson, Edwin Withers in the household of Edwin's father, Martin Withers. Martin's first wife (Frances's daughter Sophia) had died in 1896 and Martin had remarried a few years later.9
