Birth18 Aug 1856 Eliza Catherine Carpenter was born on 18 Aug 1856 in Washington County, Virginia.1,5 
Marriage16 Mar 1880 She married Samuel D. Logan, son of Caleb J. Logan and Barbara Jane Howell, on 16 Mar 1880 in Washington County, Virginia.5 
Cens-188010 Jun 1880 In the months following their marriage Samuel and Eliza lived with his parents in the Saltville District of Washington County, Virginia. Samuel worked on the family farm with his father.6 
Cens-190011 Jun 1900 By 1900 they had moved to Bristol, Tennessee, where Samuel worked as a carpenter. The census recorded that year reported that Eliza was the mother of one child, 19 year old Willie [William D.], who was enumerated with his parents.7,8 
Widowed1916  Samuel died in 1916. 
Cens-19202 Jan 1920  Eliza then appears to have provided a home for her grandson, W.D. [William D.] Logan. In 1920 62 year old Eliza and 5 year old "W.D." were enumerated together at 825 Russell Street in Bristol, Virginia.9 
Cens-193010 Apr 1930  Ten years later, in April 1930, Eliza was recorded living in her son William's home. He was divorced and was working as a conductor on a steam railway. Also present was William's son, "W.D.", now 15. All 3 generations were residing together at 1208 Fairmount in Bristol, Virginia.10 
Death13 Dec 1931 Eliza died on 13 Dec 1931 in Washington County, Virginia, at age 75.1 
Burial She was buried at East Hill Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.11
