Legatee23 Nov 1858  This was necessary to probate John Moore's estate. His will left his daughter Isabella a Negro girl name Esther, as well as two beds and a bureau. The remainder of John's estate was to be used to care for and educate Isabella and her half brother Samuel.2
Marriage13 Jan 1869 She married Reuben Bradley Preston, son of Thomas M. Preston and Evaline Gray, on 13 Jan 1869 in Washington County, Virginia.1
Court Record28 Jul 1874  Settlement records for the estate of Isabella's uncle, Andrew Fullen Moore, list substantial payments to R.B. Preston and wife. It is not clear that this referenced Isabella and Ruben, but if it did why were they receiving payments when Andrew had surviving children?6,7
Heir  Beginning in 1878 Isabella received a series of payments totalling over $600 from the estates of her deceased great uncles James, Robert and Mathew Buchanan. The brothers did not leave children and therefore their estates passed to the children of their siblings. Isabella's father was a nephew of the Buchanan men, but since he too was deceased his share fell to Isabella as his only surviving child. As was the custom of the time, many of the payments were actually made to Isabella's husband.8,9
Cens-18803 Jun 1880  Isabella and Reuben were enumerated on the 1880 census for Washington County, along with Maggie 8 and George 5.10

This total does not appear to include several children who died at birth or in infancy.
Death6 Jan 1903 Isabella died on 6 Jan 1903 at age 57.3
Burial She was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
