Birth21 Feb 1873 Jennie Kate Allison was born on 21 Feb 1873 in Washington County, Virginia.3,4 
 "Gin", as she was known in the family, did not marry.5 
Cens-19005 Jun 1900  As a young woman she lived at home and worked as a milliner.4 
  Jennie also taught school in and around Glade Spring. After her parent's death she lived in a small house near the Glade Spring grammar school play grounds. She was known as something of a character, especially as she grew older. Despite the availibility of services, she lived without electricity, indoor water or indoor plumbing. She did not care much for appearances. In her older years she lost all but a few front teeth and still wore her hair long and straight. Despite her somewhat odd appearance and lifestyle, Jennie loved children and prepared cookies and candy for them even after she retired from teaching.6 
Death7 Mar 1957 Jennie died on 7 Mar 1957 at Meadowview in Washington County. She was at age 84.7 
Burial She was buried at Old Baptist Cemetery in Washington County.1
