Birth11 Sep 1891 Elizabeth Harriet Kelly was born on 11 Sep 1891 in the Kelly's Chapel community near Glade Spring in Washington County, Virginia.3,4 
Education1912 Elizabeth was educated at Emory and Henry College in Washington County from which she graduated in 1912. While a student she took a physics class and met her future husband.3,5 
Marriage24 Aug 1915 She married Fred Allison, son of Robert Clark Allison and Rebecca Jane Clark, on 24 Aug 1915 in Washington County, Virginia.6 
  The young couple took a honeymoon trip by train, traveling as far as Niagra Falls, New York.5  
Residence  Elizabeth and Fred spent the first years of their married lives in Washington County while Fred continued to teach at Emory and Henry. However in 1922 an opportunity to head the Department of Physics at the Alabama Polytechnic Institute presented itself and the young couple moved south to Auburn. 
  There Elizabeth raised the couple's 2 children, supported her husband's endeavors and pursued her own interests as well. She was a passionate gardener and also the family historian. Elizabeth authored Early Southwest Virginia Families, an extremely helpful study of the Kelly, Smyth, Buchanan, Clark, and related families. It is widely cited on this website. 
Death9 Apr 1990 Elizabeth died on 9 Apr 1990 in Selma, Alabama, at age 98. Her son described her as a "magnificent lady."7 
Burial She was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in Auburn, Alabama.7
