Birth28 Jun 1847 Frances Pauline Beattie was probably born on 28 Jun 1847 as reported on her headstone. An entry in the Bible of her sister Ellen (Beatie) McDonald lists Frances' birth date as 28 May 1847.4,5 
Childhood  Fannie appears to have grown up in relative comfort on her father's lands in Washington County, Virginia. Absalom Beattie was enumerated in 1860 as the owner of $10,000 in real estate and $20,000 in personal property, which no doubt represented the 16 slaves owned by the family.6,7,8 
Marriage10 Oct 1866 At the age of 19, on 10 Oct 1866, Frances married Dr. William Logan Dunn, son of Dr. Samuel Dunn and Jane Beattie Ryburn Edmiston, in Washington County.3 
  William was a 28 year old physician who had served admirably during the Civil War as a member of Mosby's Rangers.9  
Death13 Nov 1872 However Fannie died tragically 6 years later, on 13 Nov 1872 of a morphine overdose.4,10 
Burial She was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
