Birth24 Nov 1843 Abram H. Allison was born on 24 Nov 1843.4
Fath-Death7 May 1849 Abram's father, William Allison, died on 7 May 1849. Abram was 5 years old at the time.
Devisee  William's will left Abram a share of his land which he was to receive on the death of his mother.1
Ward  Although he continued to reside with his mother, as evidenced by the 1850 census enumeration, Abram's inheritance required that he be appointed a guardian. Therefore in late 1849 he became the ward of his uncle John Clark, and later (1854) of his older brother William Allison.5,2,6
Military24 Mar 1863 On 24 Mar 1863 Abram enlisted as a private in Company D of the First Virginia Cavalry. His name appears on muster rolls through Feb. 1864, except for a brief period in Nov. or Dec. of 1863 when he was detailed to locate a fresh horse.7
Legatee28 Dec 1863 Abram's mother died two days after Abram's birthday in late November 1863 leaving her 20 year old son a share of her estate equal to that of his older siblings. Abram's own death, three months later, is evident in the probate papers filed for his mother's estate. In early February, 1864, William Allison, Abram's guardian was paid $629.29, representing Abram's share of the estate. But in September of the same year, J.A. Gollehon was paid  $96.87 as administrator of A. Allison, deceased.3
Death23 Feb 1864 Abram died on 23 Feb 1864 at age 20.4
Burial He was buried near his mother at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.4
The date of Abram's death, and the fact that he appeared on his unit's Feb. muster roll suggest his death was Civil War related. However, there is no mention of his death in the compiled service records.7
Probate Recd29 Mar 1866 The settlement of Abram's estate, filed in Washington County, Virginia, court on 29 Mar 1866, listed equal payments to S. D. Allison, Martha H. Ligon, R. C. Allison, John B. Allison and William W. Allison.8
