Birth10 Oct 1855 Isabella Frances "Fannie" Smyth was born on 10 Oct 1855 in Washington County, Virginia.2 
Moth-Death1862 Isabella's mother died when she was only about seven years old. Her father took Isabella and her sister Rachel to live in his childhood home. 
Cens-18706 Oct 1870  Over the years the household also included Isabella's grandfather Tobias Smyth [sometimes recorded as Smith], her father, and various aunts and uncles, including Francis Smyth who years later would live with Isabella and her husband.3,4 
Marriage License25 Apr 1888 She and William Nelson Clark obtained a marriage license on 25 Apr 1888 in Washington County. The actual marriage date was not recorded in the county register, indicating they may have married elsewhere.5 
  The couple were first cousins. William's parents were also second cousins. 
Cens-190021 Jun 1900 William and Fannie farmed near the community of Glade Spring. In 1900, twelve years after their marriage, their family consisted of 3 children [an infant son died in 1889], along with Fanny's uncle, Frank Smith [Smyth], age 77.6 
  In 1900 another daughter, Rachel, joined the family. Frank died in 1902 and was laid to rest with a headstone that said: "Uncle Frank." 
Cens-19103 May 1910 The 1910 census recorded Isabella and William with 4 children still at home: Maggie Jean (19), Nannie K. (16), James McD (14) and Rachel G. (8). Charles B. Clark [William's second cousin] was enumerated as the adjacent household. Charles A. Clark [William's brother] lived nearby.7 
Death12 Dec 1930 Isabella died on 12 Dec 1930 at age 75.1,8 
Burial She was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.8
