  Thomas was the young son of William's sister Mary Clark and her husband, Robert Henderson. Robert had died the previous year. 
Military  William enlisted as a private in the Glade Spring Rifles (Company F, of the 37th Virginia Infantry) on April 25th, 1861.8 
Death9 Aug 1861 William died of fever on 9 Aug 1861 at Monterey in Highland County, Virginia, at age 33.5,9,10,3 
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5 
Description  A letter written by Capt. George Graham following William's death listed monies owed William for his service to the Confederate Army. The letter also described William as standing 6 feet, 3 inches tall, with a dark complexion, dark hair and grey eyes.8
