Military24 Jul 1861 On 24 Jul 1861 he enlisted in Co. H of the 37th Virginia Infantry. They were known as the King's Mountain Rifles. Lilburn's cousins Samuel Harris and Samuel Buchanan enlisted in the company the same day. None of the 3 young men survived the war.1 
Death18 Jun 1863 Lilburn died from typhoid fever on 18 Jun 1863 at Chimborazo Confederate Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
