Birth1782 Mary Ryburn was probably born in late 1782 although the date is variously reported as Feb. 22 or Oct. 22. Another family source uses Oct. 22, 1783 however this conflicts with the birth of Mary's younger sister Jane.3,4,5,6
Marriage17 Sep 1804 She married Dr. William McNeill on 17 Sep 1804 in Washington County, Virginia, with Rev. James Harper officiating.7
Migration1810 In 1810 Mary and William moved to Columbia, Tennessee, where William was a physician.8,9
Residence They lived in one of the first houses to be built in that town. Later they also provided a home for two young women named Crockett.10
Legatee22 Feb 1818 Mary was left $100 by her father when he wrote his will in February of 1818.2
Deathbetween 1820 and 1830 Mary died between 1820 and 1830 as she appears to be on the first census but not the latter.11,9
Following Mary's death William married Mary Crockett (one of the young women who had lived with William and Mary) with whom he had two children. And following Mary Crockett's death William married a third time, to a widow, Sarah Hardin.12,10
Sarah is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, the oldest public cemetery in Columbia. Although many, many of the old stones are missing it is likely Mary (Ryburn) McNeill is also buried there.13
