Court Record | 17 Jul 1876 | In July 1876 R.T. Redman, of Crittenden Co., guardian of Robert Jones' nieces and nephews, George Henry, Sarah Eliza and William Campbell Redman [children of R.T. Redman and Robert's deceased sister Sarah] appointed Robert to serve as his attorney to collect money or other accounts due the children. A few months earlier, in Collin Co., Texas, Nannie J. Houghton, widow of Robert's deceased brother James, appointed Robert to perform the same service for B.R. Jones and J.H. Jones [James and Nancy's sons]. The two documents were recorded in Washington Co., Virginia on 17 Oct. 1876, suggesting Robert traveled to Virginia at that time in his capacity as his brother's administrator.8 |

| | Robert was buried in a family plot he acquired at least 30 years prior to his death. In 1876 he moved the remains of his mother Catherine, his brother James and his brother-in-law Jefferson Greer from Arkansas to Elmwood Cemetery.10 |
Will | 29 Aug 1892 | Robert wrote his will on Aug 29th, 1892 while still a resident of Crittenden County, Arkansas. He left his wife "Ann" his 492 acre plantation described as being near Brunswick in Shelby Co., Tennessee. He also left Ann $5,000. In addition he left his niece S. Eliza Redman $1,000. The balance of his property he asked to be sold with the proceeds going to the Methodist-Episcopal Church to benefit the Foreign Missions programs of the church.11 |
