Cens-188023 Jun 1880  Sally and James lived in the Goodson District of Washington County, Virginia, where James worked as a blacksmith. In 1880 the couple were enumerated with 5 children (Clarence, 10, Mary, 8, John, 6, Ella, 4, and Oliver 1). Also sharing their home was Sallie's sister, Penelope Hickok. The adjacent household included Sallie and Penelope's sister Maggie McCall and her family.3 
WidowedJul 1895  Three more children were born before James died in July 1895. The 1890s also saw Sally's sister Margaret move to Texas. 
Cens-190015 Jun 1900  However, Sally remained in Virginia where she was enumerated in 1900 at age 49. Her entry stated that she was the mother of 8 children, all of whom were living.4 
Death28 Mar 1908 Sally died on 28 Mar 1908 at age 57.1 
Burial She was buried at Cold Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1
