Birth3 Jul 1849 Caroline Penelope Hickok was born on 3 Jul 1849 in Virginia.1,2
She was the oldest of her father's 11 known children. Caroline, who often appears in records as Penelope (and later as Neppie) was a teenager when her mother died. Her father remarried in 1865. As a young adult Neppie made her home with her sister Sally Graham and her family. They had settled in the Goodson District of Washington County.
Sally's husband died in 1895 and another sister, Margaret McCall, moved west to Texas about the same time. Although Neppie had other siblings and half-siblings in Washington County, later census enumerations (1900 and 1910) recorded her farming in Goodson County and living on her own.

At some point around 1887 she had apparently intended to marry, as a license was issued for Neppie and John Hiler (a carpenter), however it was never returned and there is no indication they actually married.3,4,5
Death22 Nov 1916 Neppie died on 22 Nov 1916 at age 67.1
Burial She was buried at Cleveland Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1
