Birth26 Oct 1828 Samuel S. Glenn was born on 26 Oct 1828 in Washington County, Virginia.3,2,4 
Marriage18 Dec 1851 He married Margaret E. Duff on 18 Dec 1851 in Washington County.5 
Military20 Aug 1861 On 20 Aug 1861 Samuel and his older brother John enlisted at Glade Spring, Virginia in Company F of the 37th Virginia Infantry. On March 20th, 1862 Samuel was hospitalized at Staunton, Virginia due to illness. In April he was moved to a hospital at Abingdon where his brother John was already hospitalized. Samuel was discharged from the service in the fall of 1862, suffering from renal disease. The discharge certificate described him as 5 feet 4 3/4 inches tall with dark hair, a dark complexion, and hazel eyes.6 
Cens-Sum  Following the war Samuel and Margaret were recorded in the Goodson district of the county, unlike Samuel's surviving brothers Robert and John (brother William died during the war) who lived in the Abingdon district. Samuel and Margaret did not have children but appear to have shared their home with Elizabeth S. Duff (widowed sister-in-law), b. June 1853, and Maggie Duff (niece), b. May 1875 in Texas.7,8 
Death26 Jan 1905 Samuel died on 26 Jan 1905 at age 76.3 
Burial He was buried at Wyndale Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
