Marriage1 Oct 1856 She married William Gaither on 1 Oct 1856 in Washington County.1
Cens-187021 Sep 1870  William probably died before the summer of 1870 at which time Margaret was enumerated living at home with [her mother] Elizabeth Beaty. The household included 4 Gaither children, presumed to be William and Margaret's. William and Ann Tally [Margaret's sister and her husband] also lived with Elizabeth Beaty. The adjacent household included Benjamin and Mary Reed.4 [Margaret's sister and her husband]
The families were probably living on land south of the Middle Fork of the Holston River which Margaret's father James Beaty inherited from his grandfather, Thomas Montgomery.

Margaret's death was noted on the 1880 Washington Co. mortality schedule. She was listed as a widow, further suggesting William Gaither died before 1870.5
