Birth1855 Nickerson Snead Edmondson was born in 1855 in Washington County, Virginia, according to abstracted county birth records. However his death certificate uses Nov. 1858 and the 1900 census uses Feb. 1859. His ages on various census records (1860: 4; 1870: 13; 1880: 23) suggests a birth year of 1856-1857.1,3,5,6,4
Devisee19 Jun 1872  Nickerson's aunt, Elizabeth (Scott) Snead, wrote her will in 1872. She left David and Mary Edmondson the 6 acres of land on which they were living, with the instructions that upon their death it was to be divided between 3 of their children. "Nicholas" was to receive the section with the house on it.2
Cens-188015 Jun 1880  The 1880 census found "Nick" residing in the home of his 30 year old brother Stuart who lived in the Glade Spring district of Washington County and worked for the railroad.7
However, Nick did not remain in Virginia. When his aunt Sarah Edmondson wrote her in July 1883 she included this statement: "The children of my sister Ann Scott and Armstrong and Nickerson S. Edmondson if any of the parties are dead their children take the parties share". This would seem to suggest Nick had not remained in close touch with his Washington County relatives.8
Marriagecirca 1882 He married Dinah (?) circa 1882.6
Cens-19004 Jun 1900  In 1900 Nick and his wife Dinah, along with their 13 year old daughter Mary, lived in Laurel County, Kentucky. They had been married 18 years. Nick was employed as an engineer at a saw mill. The family had most likely been in Kentucky for some years (Mary's place of birth was listed as KY).6
Death20 Mar 1913 Nickerson died of a gastric ulcer on 20 Mar 1913 in Whitley County, Kentucky.4
