Dear Mrs. Thatcher:
I hasten to pass to you certain data which just same [came?] into my hands.  In the questionnaire you filled out for me you said your grandfather Josiah N. Beattie, and his three brothers John, Thomas and James and sister Susan ca,e [came] to Missouri “and evidently settled near Savannah”.  I am now in recei-t [receipt] of a letter from a descendant of a James Beattie, who settled in Andrew County, who tells me that he married a Miss Elizabeth Stephenson which fits the account you gave me and the account I had from Virginia.  She said that James Beattie and Elizabwth [Elizabeth] Stephenson had a son DAVID STEPHENSON BEATTIE (father of my informant) who died in Andrew County, Missouri, ----no---at [as typed] Camden Paint [Camden Point?], Mo., 1864.  So this accounts for all the Beatties I have been able to locate in Andrew County, assuming that the Josiah Beattie I mentioned in my letter as having a wife Kezziah, was your grandfather Josiah.

I pass this to you as it may help you to recall some little item about your grandfathers brothers and sisters.
                                                                                                     Yours sincerely,

                                                                                                     Redmond S. Cole,
                                                                                                     Box 92, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
