Marriage19 Jan 1832 She married Samuel A. Preston, son of Thomas Preston and Nancy (?), on 19 Jan 1832 in Washington County, Virginia.5,6 
  Samuel was a 56 year old widower with 3 adult children. 
Cens-185021 Sep 1850  Samuel and Rebecca were enumerated with two of their children on the first census to name all members of a household. Samuel was 76 and owned land valued at $3,720. Rebecca was 53. Also present were William Preston (16), Elizabeth Preston (13), Alexander Rutherford (23; a stage driver) and Margaret Rutherford (18).7 
Widowed17 Feb 1857  Rebecca was widwed at age 60 when Samuel died in early 1857. 
  Samuel's will, which he had written 10 years before his death, left Rebecca the family plantation and slaves during her lifetime. At Rebecca's death the land and slaves were to pass to the couple's 3 children who were named as Ann, William and Elizabeth.8 
DeathJun 1858 Rebecca died of cancer on the 10th or 11th of Jun 1858 in Washington County, Virginia at age 61.2,4 
Burial She was buried at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Washington County.4

  1. [S694] William Snodgrass will (recorded 1830)), Washington Co., Virginia Will Book 6: 135. The will was dated 11 May 1830 and proved in court 20 Jul. 1830. Son Thomas Snodgrass and Samuel M Snodgrass were named executors, but by July Thomas was deceased and Samuel refused to assume the role, as did the widow. On Aug. 13, 1830 Samuel assumed the role of co-administrator with Benjamin Glenn.
