Migration | | Shortly after their wedding the young couple headed to Oklahoma, settling in Texas County (Beaver County until 1907) where they homesteaded 160 acres of land.4,5 |
| | Oliver suffered from poor health and died 18 days before the couple's first anniversary. Three weeks after Oliver's death Sallie gave birth to a baby girl in Seward County, Kansas (just across the state line from Texas County, Oklahoma) and named the infant Olive. |
Migration | | Following Olive's birth Sallie returned to Virginia for a period, however she eventually returned to Kansas where she married for a second time.6 |
Marriage | | She married second Albert G. Thompson in Seward County, Kansas.6 |
Cens-1910 | 10 May 1910 | Sallie and Albert were recorded on the 1910 census for Liberal township in Seward County less than a year after their marriage. Albert was a 42 year old farmer, "Kate" was 33. Three year old Olive was also enumerated.7 |
Land-Patent | 16 May 1913 | On 16 May 1913 Sallie received the homestead patent for the land she and Oliver had settled on after their marriage. It was described as the northeast quarter of section 24 in township 5 north of range 18 east.4 |
Death | 5 Sep 1953 | Sallie died on 5 Sep 1953 at age 76.2 |
