How was Lewis J. Walden a cousin??7
Marriage5 Jul 1887 He married Margaret M. Debusk, daughter of David Jessee Debusk and Eliza Nicholas, on 5 Jul 1887 in Washington County.8
Devisee1891  Isabella Hutton wrote her will in 1891. She left a banket to her "grandson Lewis J. Walden."9
Cens-190014 Jun 1900  The 1900 census recorded Lewis and Margaret (enumerated as Magnina) living in the Glade Spring District of Washington County. They had been married 13 years and were the parents of 7 children, all of whom were alive and enumerated in the household. Lewis was a farmer. The adjacent household was headed by Rebecca Hutton. Living with her was Rachel Hutton.10
Rachel was the half sister of Lewis' mother Sarah Jane. Rebecca was Sarah Jane's daughter - Lewis' half sister. Margaret Grinstead, sister to Samuel Hutton (Rachel's father and Sarah Jane's step-father), inherited acreage on Hutton Creek from her mother. Margaret's will, written in 1888, left half of her land to her sister Rachel with the stipulation that Isabella Hutton (Rachel's mother and Lewis' grandmother) and Rebecca Hutton be allowed to live on the land. Isabella was deceased by 1900; it is likely Lewis, as her grandson, lived on the land and assisted Rachel and Rebecca with their farm.
Death3 May 1907 Samuel died on 3 May 1907 at age 51.5
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.5
