Birth30 Apr 1882 Claude James Clark was born on 30 Apr 1882 in Washington County, Virginia.3 
Cens-19001900  At the age of 17 Claude was recorded on his parent's farm in the Glade Spring District of Washington County. Besides his parents, Claude's 2 brothers and his widowed grandmother, Mary (Clark) Clark were also enumerated.4 
  The family lived in the old John B. Clark home along the Old Stage Rd. south of Glade Spring. Claude's father purchased the home and surrounding land in 1894. Charles owned additional "old" Clark land slightly to the south, on which Claude spent the early years of his youth. 
Marriage11 Oct 1905 He married Maude Hutton, daughter of William Edmondson Hutton and Sallie Suthers, on 11 Oct 1905 in Washington County, Virginia.5 
  At some point after their marriage Claude built a home for the couple on his father's land facing Prices Bridge Road. Claude was an excellent carpenter and with his brother Ray built homes in the Glade Spring area. Both men were also farmers. 
Death20 Sep 1963 Claude died on 20 Sep 1963 at age 81.3 
Burial He was buried in the Charles A. Clark square at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County.3
