Birthbefore Oct 1818 Mary Beattie was born before Oct 1818.
Deathbetween 1818 and 1821 Mary died between 1818 and 1821. She was alive when her grandmother Mary Beattie wrote her will in Oct. 1818. However, she appears to have died before her father wrote his will in September 1821. She was also not mentioned in any of the records created when her father's estate was probated.2,1
One entry in James Beattie's probate file may indirectly reference Mary. A bill from John Reed was submitted to the estate for 4 coffins: one for James and his wife ($7 each), one for James's daughter ($7) and one for "his dt_" [daughter ?]. It is likely one of these daughters was Mary.3
Additionally, G.W. Wilcox, who appears to have been a physician, submitted a bill against the estate of James Beattie for various services rendered "in last illness". His entry for Sept. 1, 1821 included "visit of daughter.... $2.00."4

Margaret stated that "Mary Beaty wished to give Polly Beaty the daughter of James Beaty the plaintiff...". James Beaty is proved as the son of Mary Beaty and David Beaty elsewhere in the suit. The will erroneously refers to "her niece Polly, daughter of James Beattie". The fact that she was actually referring to her granddaughter Mary [Polly], daughter of James Beattie, is established in the Beaty et al vs Clark et al lawsuit.
