Fath-Death1780  William's father died in the summer of 1780. His will written that March in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, noted that his son William had already received his share of William Sr.'s estate.2 
Marriage He married Catherine (?).4 
Migration  William's sisters Jane and Sarah married John and James Hutton, brothers from neighboring York (now Adams) County. In the early 1780s the Hutton brothers left Pennsylvania and traveled down the Valley of Virginia, settling in Washington County. There John Hutton purchased a tract of 430 acres on Stalnaker's (later Baker's and then Hutton) Creek. William (and presumably Catherine) also migrated south to Washington County, Virginia.  
Land-Buy12 Jan 1790 On 12 Jan 1790 William purchased 152 acres from John Hatton [Hutton] for 200 pounds. The parcel was taken from the most northwestern end of John Hutton's 430 acre tract.5 
Death29 Apr 1838 William died on 29 Apr 1838.1 
Burial He was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.1
