Birth31 May 1839 Amanda Ann Clark was born on 31 May 1839 in Virginia.1,6 
Cens-Sum Like her older sister Susan, Amanda did not marry but remained at home on the family farm in the Glade Spring district of Washington County, Virginia.6,7,8 
  She was the 6th daughter, and 7th child, in a family of 12 children. 
  Amanda's mother died in 1868. Her father wrote his will in 1873, leaving Amanda 10 acres of land and various other items. However, she died two months after her father and before his will could be executed. Settlement papers for his estate noted a payment of $45.50 on behalf of a "devisee who died"; part of the payment was for funeral expenses.4,9 
Death21 Aug 1880 Amanda died on 21 Aug 1880 at age 41.10,11 
Burial She was buried at Old Glade Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.10

  4. [S709] Peter Clark will (recorded 1880), Washington Co., Virginia Will Book 20: 334. The will was dated 4 Nov. 1873 with a codicil added 2 March 1878. It was first produced in court on 26 Jul 1880 on the oath of M. Morriss and J.(or I) Benham. On 27 Sept. 1880 it was again introduced and proven on the oath of James A. Clark, the last witness to the codicil. Thomas Clark, one of the executors declined to qualify. John M. Clark, the other executor, took the oath and entered bond in the amount of $1,000 with James P. Clark and Thomas B. Clark his security.
