  Marian's mother died when she was a young child. 
Ward24 Nov 1856  Marian's father died in June 1856. Jonathan Hanby, Marian's uncle, was appointed as her guardian on November 24th, 1856.5 
  Marian lived with her paternal grandmother, Catherine Hanby.6 
Legatee  Under the terms of her father's will, Marian and her brother William received a Negro woman named Judy and two of her children. Marian also received a share of her father's land. Catherine Hanby's 1861 will left Marian a share of land Catherine owned on Reedy Creek Rd. The wording of the will suggests that Marian's father owned and lived on part of the tract at the time of his death.1,2 
Marriage28 Aug 1862 Marian married David B. Senaker on 28 Aug 1862 in Washington County, Virginia.3
