BirthCircacirca 1841 Samuel M. Harris was born in Virginia circa 1841.1 
Military24 Jul 1861 On 24 Jul 1861 he enlisted in Co. H. of the 37th Regiment, Virginia Infantry. They were known as the Kings Mountain Rifles. Samuel's cousins, Samuel Buchanan and Lilburn Buchanan joined the company the same day. 
Death20 Aug 1862 Samuel died in the hospital at Staunton, Virginia, on 20 Aug 1862 (carded entry in Civil War Service Record reported death as Aug. 23). He had been sick for several months.2,3
